Pain in the neck?

Sternocleidomastoid(SCM) and Scalene(s)

Does your neck ever feel so stiff that you can picture a bowling ball stuck on top of a broom handle and not much movement in that scenario?  I certainly was one of those.

One of the main reasons I began getting regular massage was for a ‘stiff neck’ resulting in discomfort, pain and headaches.  The neck is a critical structure of the body allowing head rotation side to side, forward and backward flexion and extension.  The sternocleidomastoid (SCM) and the anterior, middle and posterior scalene are some of the muscles included in the web of muscles in the neck.

Regular massage can assist in releasing lactic acid causing muscle striation adhesion.  Lactic acid is produced mainly in the red blood cells and the muscles cells.  Adhesions are when the muscle striations get stuck together prohibiting smooth movement leading to a feeling the muscle being stiff.

Come on in and see if massage can relieve this ‘pain in the neck’.
